| Bud's
Spas and Pools was originally founded by William "Bud"
Bell. Bud worked out of his house with 1-2 employees under
the title of Mermaid Pools. He was the exclusive dealer
of an all aluminum walled pool. Many of these pools are
still operating to this date, some with their original
liners. In 1974, Bud moved to the present location at
597 Garner Rd E, Ancaster. The price of aluminum was rising
and galvanized steel was becoming a reasonable alternative.
Around this time, Bud formed a partnership and operated
two companies from this location to address the product
change and the growing demand for pools. These two companies,
Blue Ridge Contracting and Artistic Pools, with a crew
of 7-10 employees operated until 1984. In 1984, Bud and
his partner had a change in their focus and dissolved
the partnership. His partner kept the name Artistic, and
Bud formed what is known today as Bud's Spas and Pools.
In 1986, Bud's son Bill joined the company on a full time
basis to develop the service department of the business.
Up until this time, the main focus of the business was
installations with a small emphasis on service. For the
next 11 years the company continued to develop the service
aspect of the business while still maintaining a strong
presence in the installation of pools and hot tubs. In
1997, Bud sold the business to his son Bill. He remained
on in a consulting and advisory role, and can still be
found on site supervising the pool excavations. In the
present day,the company is operated by his son Bill, along
with a staff of 15 full time, and 20 seasonal staff members.
The company has been recognized with numerous industry
awards, is a multiple winner of the Spectator's readers
choice awards, recently receiving the awards for favourite
pool and hot tub company for 2007. |
