Pool Closings

In preparing for your pool closing, please make sure of the following:

• Bring in a water sample to be tested by the store 1 to 1 ½ weeks prior to your closing to ensure your water is balanced.

• If you have a sand filter, 2 days prior to closing the pool is a good time to chemically clean the sand. Cartridge filters & salt cells can be cleaned after the pool is closed if applicable.

• Check your winter cover to ensure it is in good shape for installation this season. If you let us know prior to coming out that you require a new cover, we can bring one with us. For Bud's new pool customer's, this is already arranged.

• Power and water must be on and accessible for use by the pool closing crew.

• Your winter cover, parts, waterbags, etc must be accessible by the pool closing crew. They are not instructed to rummage through sheds or garages to find items. We will install the necessary plugs, gizmos, etc from our stocked trucks should you not have them available.

The following is a list of services we complete when closing a pool;

• Remove solar blanket from roller unless otherwise directed
• Roll up solar blanket
• Light vacuum
• Clean waterline
• Drain pool down
• Fill waterbags
• Remove diving board/base, ladder(s), handrail(s) etc. (bolts, escutcheons etc. to be put in a bag)
• Add required chemicals and circulate
• Brush down if required
• Winterize equipment lines
• Install winter cover
• Disconnect heater pressure switch
• Shut off heater valve
• Shut off gas valve

After your pool closing has been completed:

• Please call with any concerns within 72 hours of the pool closing.

• You may choose to turn off the breaker to pool equipment and your outside water.

• You should keep an eye on your winter cover as Buds cannot guarantee that waterbags will not flatten or high winds may take the cover into the pool. We will reset your cover and replace bags as necessary for our regular service charge.

• Leaves & leaf nets should be removed from your pool cover once leaves have fallen and prior to them getting rotten or frozen. This will help prevent extra clean up & disposal charges in the spring and relieve any extra weight they may cause on your cover. Bud's can send out two service technicians in the fall to do this for you for a minimal charge.
